Text Box: FEBRUARY 2012
		IMAGINATION & FRIENDSHIPS and
			FIRE SAFETY

HOW TO “DO” VALENTINES:
When you come to school on Thurs. 2/9, please bring 15 valentines.

Valentines should be signed with your child’s name (either by you or by child)

Please DO NOT address these with the other children’s names.

REMINDERS:

· Remember to register for next fall’s classes.  New families can start registering in mid-February, so you may want to reserve your spot before then!

· KIDS’ TIME is coming on Sat. 2/11.  Sign up now for 4 hours of fun for your children & 4 hours to accomplish some of your “to-do” list (even if that’s reading a good book!)

FRIENDSHIPS—
How do we show people we appreciate & love them?  What do we say & how do we act?

We want you to know how much we appreciate you and your children.  Thank you for sharing them with us!

Imagination + Creativity
can lead to Science!

We experiment with “magic milk” by seeing what moves food coloring the fastest — skim milk?  2%?  half & half?

Thurs. 2/9

Early Valentine’s card reading for both classes

Parents, Caregivers— please return at 1:00 to share songs & help your child read valentines.

FIRE SAFETY
is being practiced
at
our FIRE STATION #1

It’s empowering & fun to
pretend to be firefighters,
but we also emphasize that fire is used by grown-ups & is not a plaything.

Sometimes children think of the birthday candles they blow out and don’t realize that people
cannot blow out other fires.

We use obsolete phones to practice dialing “9-1-1”.

Many children need help
realizing that the “1” needs to be pushed two times.

We sing:
“You’ve Got to Stop, Drop & Roll & Cover Your Eyes”
as a way to make this an
automatic response.

At school we practice our emergency exit plan.
We encourage you to do the same at home.
