Our philosophy is, "Children Learn by Doing."  With this in mind, a day at Kirkland Preschool actively involves your child in numerous art, music, science, cooking, and pre-kindergarten activities. caught in a "web" on a field trip to the zooLarge and small muscle coordination activities, dramatic play situations, and field trips also are integral to our programs. Here's more detail on our learning objectives.

We offer several programs for kids from age two and a half to five and a half. For more detail on which program is best for your child and for a chart showing days, hours, and tuition, see our program descriptions. We are proud of our dedicated, experienced teaching staff .

Financial Aid

The school is able to offer some work scholarships. Typically, a family exchanges work at home or at school for a reduction in tuition. Contact us for an application.

Registration and Enrollment

To enroll in preschool, please complete an application and submit it to the preschool mailing address. Contact us for an application. Current and past families may register on a first-come, first-served basis starting in January. Registration for new families starts in mid-February. On that day, any new applications already received are processed lottery-style for any remaining openings and for numbered spots on each class’ waiting lists. Any applications received after that day are processed as they are received.

The school tries to establish balanced ratios between boys and girls in each session. Some sessions fill more rapidly than others, and we maintain a waiting list for any openings that may occur during the school year.

Since our suggested age guidelines for classes overlap, we encourage families to carefully consider their children's learning styles and stages of development when choosing classes.

Kirkland Preschool admits students of any religion, race, color, national or ethnic origin, family structure or gender identity to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. The Preschool does not discriminate on the basis of religion, race, color, national or ethnic origin, family structure or gender identity in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies or other school administered programs.

School Calendar

getting ready for a new school yearThe school year begins in mid-September and ends in mid-June. To help new families and to continue school year friendships, we offer some free summer picnic/play dates. In early September, an evening parent meeting and individual school visits for each student and family are scheduled to help orient your child to his/her environment and to help develop teacher-student friendships. There are vacation days in December, February, and April.

"Dear Preschool, Thank you for helping me do my job. I learned to do three things after I finished doing my jobs. I learned to be helpful. Thank you for being my friends. I love you all."

Love, Rachael

We couldn't be happier about what the school offers. We are especially impressed with the fact that they don't do "cookie cutter" art; they give the children the tools and let them make what they want -- no right or wrong way.

"Although my son has only been in the program for about three months, we are very pleased. Volunteering every [few] weeks allows me to be involved and to integrate ideas at home. The staff and teachers are very accessible and seem genuinely interested."
