We have the highest regard and warmest memories from Kirkland Preschool. Both of our daughters attended Kirkland Preschool and during these golden years we enjoyed the wonderful community that Carolyn and the teachers have created. Entering the school, each of our daughters had different strengths and weaknesses and we watched them both blossom and generally gain a wonderful confidence in themselves. Both made the leap to the “big” school and Kindergarten with such ease, readiness and excitement that we feel our life was made easier by this school. Thank You.

We currently have our 4 year-old enrolled in the M-W-F class with Teacher Patrice and Teacher Lindsay and we couldn’t be happier with our decision this year. While it doesn’t appear academic on its face, the curriculum is so amazingly thoughtful and covers so many concepts (building an incredible schema of knowledge in my child’s brain). Every few weeks the classroom focus changes as do many of the toys, dress-up clothes, art projects and even the formation of the room in accordance with the new topic. As a result, I see that my 4 year-old is at times quicker than her sister (age 6 in first grade) in connecting relationships between things, or the rationale behind a concept. It is very play-based - you won’t see any photocopied worksheets make their way home. You will see a ton of art projects that have engaged the kids’ gross and fine motor skills. The outdoor play space is lovely, and the field trips have been wonderful. I am thrilled with this school and think it has given my child a wonderful foundation thus far.

Kirkland Preschool is an amazing place with dedicated teachers. I worked at the school for three and a half years as a preschool teacher and then later, spent another 2 years as a preschool mom when my daughter attended school there. What they have is extremely special, and to be honest- hard to find. It is an amazing community of families and teachers. I treasure the friendships that I was blessed with there during my years as a teacher and mom. The early childhood education that the children receive is age appropriate, original and memorable. The teachers put a tremendous amount of effort into their classrooms during school hours and off school hours. They are passionate, knowledgeable and nurturing in everything they do. When I go back to visit my old co-workers and friends, the faces of the preschool families are different; I don’t know them. But the feeling that is there is the same. Carolyn, Elna and their staff have created such a unique, loving environment. To have this as my daughter’s first school experience and as an incredible place to work, I will forever be grateful.

Today the first report card came home and below is what our son’s teacher shared with us. I know KP had a large role in getting our son to this point. I don’t say it enough, but THANK YOU for all you do! We are so excited to have our daughter continue onto the 4’s class next year in a uniquely rich learning environment!
Quoted from the report card: ‘Your son is a very considerate and kind student and friend. He had no problem making friends in class and offers help to those around him. He has excellent life skills, which really help him to strive for challenges appropriate to his academic level. He is a great role model for following directions, getting started quickly and respectfully listening... he is a joy to have in class and his hard working attitude is much appreciated!’

We couldn’t be happier about what the school offers. We are especially impressed with the fact that they don’t do ‘cookie cutter’ art: they give the children the tools and let them make what they want — no right or wrong way.

Both of my kids have attended Kirkland Preschool and we couldn’t be happier. The teachers are fabulous and the Pre-K class has a well-structured, educational and entertaining curriculum. One of the quirky things I love is the school’s collection of vintage toys. It’s a treat to see my kid playing with the same toys I had when I was the same age.
